Olivia’s third birthday was yesterday, but we planned the party for today — Saturday morning — so that Daddy could come along! This morning, daddy wanted to know if she knew what was going on, so he did an “interview” with her:
Naturally, Olivia and I had spent a couple of days baking the cake — which was a big “3″ and Bright Pink, that was a lot of fun. It was even more fun for Daddy Dave who had to figure out how to get it covered and into the fridge.
He simply placed drinking glasses around it and put a chopping board on top, sitting on the glasses which were taller than the cake, obviously. Then he covered the lot with cling film. He took the tray from the back of the fridge door, and adjusted the shelves.
To get the cake to the party, he took my bodhrán, stick and cloth from it’s box, sellotaped a sheet of greaseproof paper to the inside of the lid, and placed the cake inside – perfect!
The party was expensive, but worth every penny — food and drink were laid on, and we didn’t have to worry about mess, cleaning up after ourselves or even keeping an eye on everything!

We had a LOAD of fun, and Olivia got lots and lots of gifts and cards; everyone was SO generous! We were quite touched!
After the party, my big sister departed for England, and Olivia was finally coming down from party-hyper-mode — the wee soul crashed out for a nap in her chair in front of her Ratatouille DVD. Aw.
I wish we had taken more pictures and videos, but I guess it is a testament to how much fun it all was that we forgot about that most of the time!
