It was a white Christmas, just like the song, yet the temperature rose to 3C, and the sun shone so the view from the window was like a movie or Christmas Card!
The turkey was delicious, everyone seemed to have a good time, there were no mishaps. The kids were superb first thing — and they loved opening their gifts from Santa — and they got exactly what they asked for, and more besides.
We staggered the opening of gifts because when they get too much in one go, they don’t know who it is from, they grow confused and the place is wrapping paper hell.
We had Classic FM on the DAB radio in the kitchen belting out carols and Christmas stuff all day. Everyone was in the Christmas mood. Oli got a brand new, pink Nintendo DSI, and a remote controlled dog as her “main” gifts, and she was over the moon.
DP got Stinky The Garbage Truck and Scalextric. Naturally, all the grown up men set the Scalextric up and played for a while, but later, DP got to play in front of the roaring fire once the twins had gone and left him his toys in peace at last! He adored his rocketship toy and she loved her dance-mat — and they both loved the zillion presents they got from everyone. Too many superb gifts to mention. A bumper year for them methinks.
